Teraflex High Steer System

This High Steering Kit is made by Teraflex.  If you have moved your springs to a position that is above your axle or if you have given your Jeep a lift of 5 inches or more then the chances are good that you will need one of these kits.  This kit will raise the steering point that is on the knuckle by a few inches.  The exact height will vary with the application.  This will in turn raise the linkage of the steering, allowing it to stay out of the way of branches and rocks.  Even more important is that it will restore your proper steering geometry that was knocked out of whack when you lifted the chassis.

While there are a lot of advantages to lifting a Jeep, there are also quite a few critical issues that you will need to deal with – even if the lift isn’t one that is extreme.  One of these issues has to do with steering.  When you lift the steering box along with the frame but leave the steering arm with the knuckle where it was, the drag link has a steeper angle to overcome.  This is not good as it needs to be nearly horizontal.  This kit by Teraflex will reposition your drag link to a higher location while also allowing for you to mount your tie rod in a higher position as opposed to directly in front of your axle where it could easily become damaged.  The study Teraflex cast steel knuckle will accept a larger diameter tie rod end too which then allows for you to add a tie rod and drag link that are heavier duty as well.

This high steer system was designed to originally be used with the Teraflex best of the best suspension system for the Jeep Wrangler TJ – the MAX-LCG.  However, it was discovered that many of the Jeeps that had a lift higher than 4 inches that were still using track bars would reap the benefits of a solution for higher steering.  This kit beefs up your essential steering components.  It includes a drag link with tie rod ends that are capable of handling one ton tie rods, a tie rod, inserts that are tapered and a high steer knuckle that has been HD cast.

Please Note

This is not a kit that is all inclusive.  You will need to make additional modifications and these modifications are not included with the High Steer System.  Some of these modifications might include offset wheels, mounting a front track bar and front sway bar links.  Remember that when you make the decision to lift a Jeep, you are actually deciding to embark on a never ending project.

When it comes to transforming your Jeep into an off road monster, look to Teraflex for everything that you will need.  They have everything from mounts for CB antennas that do not require drilling to mud flaps with quick disconnect features, spare tire carriers, Velcro roll bar grab handles and everything in between.  If they have seen a need for it then they have developed a product that will fill that need and at a high quality.  They do everything that they can to make your off road experience both fun and safe.

Just as your legs would be useless if it weren’t for the ankle, knee and hip joints that allow for the movement and pivot so that you are able to sit, kneel, run and walk, the same thing holds true for the spindles, steering knuckles and control arms in the suspension of your Jeep and the ball joints and bushings that allow for these parts to move in response to the contact the tires have with the bumps, the corresponding reaction form the springs and the input from you steering.

The bushings are responsible for allowing the control arms to be able to pivot down and up at your frame while the ball joints enable the knuckle and control arm to move in a vertical direction while the spindle moves horizontally.

Make sure that all of your ball joints are in proper working order and when you need to replace them, understand that there is no better option available than these Dana 44/30 upper and lower balls joints that are heavy duty and made by Teraflex.
